What You Can Claim for Each Project

Up to $12,000

🔥 Heat pumps

Cold-Climate and Ground-Source Heat Pumps

The amount depends on the unit and how the home is heated today. The heat pump must be on the qualified list and installed by a program-qualified contractor. A federal grant announced in October 2026 is expected in early 2027.

No rebate, lower cost

🚗 EV chargers

Home EV Chargers

There is no Ontario or Toronto Hydro rebate for a home charger right now. The real savings: a load check that avoids a panel upgrade, the Ultra-Low Overnight rate plan, and HELP financing for a Level 2 charger.

The Rules That Cost People Their Rebate

🛑

Buying Before Pre-Approval

Solar and battery rebates need written pre-approval from the program and the utility before any equipment is bought or installed.

🔁

Net Metering

Rebated solar and batteries must be designed for load displacement. A net-metering agreement and the rebate are one or the other.

🔋

A Battery on Its Own

A battery without new solar does not qualify. If backup is the goal and solar is not, the rebate is off the table and the design changes.

How We Handle It

Rebates Built Into the Plan

1

Check

We confirm which programs fit your home and project before you spend anything.

2

Design to Qualify

System sizes, equipment and connection are chosen to meet the program rules.

3

Pre-Approval

We file the pre-approval and utility forms before anything is ordered.

4

Claim

After inspection we submit the invoices and documents so the rebate is paid.

Rebate Questions

The kind we would give before you commit a dollar of capital. Tap a question.

What rebates are available for a Tesla Powerwall in Ontario?
Up to $10,000 when the battery is paired with new solar. The Home Renovation Savings Program pays $300 per kWh of battery storage (up to $5,000) and $1,000 per kW of solar (up to $5,000), each capped at 50% of cost. The system must be designed for load displacement rather than net metering, and pre-approval is required before buying. Tesla Powerwall installation.
Is there a rebate for a home EV charger in Toronto?
Not right now. There is no Ontario or Toronto Hydro rebate for a home EV charger. The City of Toronto's HELP loan can finance a Level 2 charger, the Ultra-Low Overnight rate plan makes overnight charging cheapest, and a load check often avoids a panel upgrade, which is usually the biggest cost. Do you need 200 A?
How much is the heat pump rebate in Ontario?
Up to $12,000 through the Home Renovation Savings Program for a cold-climate air-source or ground-source heat pump. The amount depends on the unit and the home's current heating. A federal grant announced in October 2026 (up to $10,000 for low to median incomes, up to $2,000 for others) is expected to open in early 2027.
Can I combine the HELP loan with rebates?
Yes. The City of Toronto says HELP can be combined with rebates from the City, the Province, the federal government and utilities. A common approach is to finance the full project with HELP and put the rebate toward the balance when it is paid.
Is there a rebate for an electrical panel or service upgrade?
Not on its own. HELP covers electrical upgrades when they are required for a heat pump-only or solar-only project. The better saving is often avoiding the upgrade: a load calculation from your real usage data frequently shows the existing service is enough.
Do I have to apply for the rebate myself?
No. For solar and battery, the contractor submits the pre-installation form and the utility connection approval, and the rebate is paid after the documents are approved. On the projects we install, we prepare and file all of it.
