Toronto's Grid Is Under Stress

More Outages, Longer Restorations

Extreme weather, aging infrastructure, and increased demand mean more outages, and longer restoration times.

⚡

More Frequent Outages

Ice storms, heat waves, and windstorms are happening more often. The 2013 ice storm left 300,000+ without power for days. It will happen again.

🏠

Modern Homes Need Power

Sump pumps, medical equipment, home offices, security systems, today's homes depend on reliable power. A few hours without it can mean real damage.

❄️

Winter Is Unforgiving

No power means no heat. Pipes freeze. Food spoils. In extreme cold, an outage isn't an inconvenience, it's an emergency.

3 Ways to Keep Your Power On

The Right Solution for Your Needs, Budget & Home

Sized from your hourly usage data, not a brochure. We’ll tell you which one your house actually needs, including when the cheaper one is the right answer.

⚡ Generac & Kohler · Starting at $15,000 installed

Standby Generators

The right answer for long outages and all-electric homes. Natural gas or propane, starts on its own, runs for as long as the fuel does. We size it to your panel and confirm your gas meter can feed it before you buy.

  • 20 to 26 kW whole-home models, 200 A automatic transfer switch
  • Load management so the A/C and range never trip it
  • Gas meter capacity checked with Enbridge before install
  • 5-year warranty, extendable to 10

🔄 Battery + Generator · Starting at $35,000 installed

Hybrid Systems

The battery carries the first hours silently and handles every peak; the generator starts only when an outage runs long, and recharges the battery while it runs. Because the battery takes the peaks, the generator can be a size smaller, and one transfer point serves both.

  • Silent backup for short outages, unlimited runtime for long ones
  • Generator runs a fraction of the hours, less fuel, less noise, less wear
  • Battery still saves money every day the grid is up
  • Battery portion rebate eligible

Our recommendation: battery for most homes. Generator if you need multi-day backup or have large loads. Hybrid for maximum peace of mind.

Up to $10,000 Back

Up to $5,000 for battery storage ($300/kWh) plus up to $5,000 for solar panels ($1,000/kW), covering up to 50% of project cost. Battery rebates require pairing with new solar; systems must be designed for load displacement. We handle all the rebate paperwork for you.

Solar + Battery: True Energy Independence

The First Stage of Your Home's Own Microgrid

When the grid goes down, solar panels alone shut off (a safety requirement). Add battery storage and they keep generating, powering your home indefinitely. Powerwall 3 includes a built-in solar inverter supporting up to 20kW, no separate inverter needed.

Backup Power Questions

The kind we would give before you commit a dollar of capital. Tap a question.

How long will a Powerwall power my home during an outage?
A single Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh) typically provides 8 to 12 hours for an average home managing essential loads: fridge, lights, internet, some outlets. Paired with solar, it can last indefinitely during daylight hours. For whole-home backup or extended outages, we recommend 2+ units or a hybrid battery/generator system.
Can I get the Ontario rebate without installing solar?
No, the Home Renovation Savings Program battery rebate requires pairing with new solar panel installation. However, if you're considering both, the combined rebate can be up to $10,000 ($5,000 each for solar and battery). We can design a system that qualifies while meeting your backup power goals.
Is a generator or battery better for my home?
It depends on your priorities. Battery: silent, instant switchover, zero maintenance, works with solar, rebate eligible, provides daily time-of-use savings. Generator: unlimited runtime, handles larger loads, lower upfront cost, proven technology. For most Toronto homes we recommend battery; for large homes or multi-day backup, consider a generator or hybrid system.
What loads can backup power handle?
A single Powerwall 3 delivers 11.5 kW continuous, enough for most homes including fridge, lights, internet, sump pump, and some HVAC. Whole-home backup including central AC and electric heat may require 2+ Powerwalls or a 22kW+ generator. We assess your specific loads and design a system that covers what matters most.
Do I need to do anything during an outage?
Nothing. Both batteries and generators with automatic transfer switches detect outages and switch over automatically: batteries in milliseconds, generators in 10 to 30 seconds. The Tesla app notifies you when you're on backup power and shows remaining capacity. When grid power returns, the system switches back automatically.
