EV Charger Installation in Toronto
That Won't Leave You Stranded

Most installers just add a charger. We check if your home can handle it first, so you don't trip breakers, overload your panel, or pay twice when you add a heat pump later.

The LDC Data Method

Every assessment runs on your utility's 15-minute interval data, analyzed under an engineered load calculation (OESC Rule 8-106(8)). Measured demand, not assumptions.

The Problem With Most EV Charger Installs

3 Ways a Quick Install Costs You Later

"Just Add a 60A Breaker"

Your panel might have space, but does your service have capacity? Many homes are already at 80% utilization. Adding 60A without checking is a recipe for tripped main breakers.

Pay Now, Pay Again Later

Install a charger today, then find out you need a $15,000+ panel upgrade when you want to add a heat pump, pool heater, or 2nd EV next year.

Conflicting Advice

One electrician says you need 400A service. Another says 200A is fine. Who's right? Without an engineering load calculation, it's guesswork.

Capacity First, Charger Second

Typical Installer vs. Energable

TYPICAL INSTALLER

  • Looks at your panel, counts slots
  • "Should be fine", installs charger
  • No future load consideration
  • You're on your own when breakers trip

THE ENERGABLE APPROACH

  • Engineering load calculation based on actual consumption
  • Account for heat pump, pool, 2nd EV now
  • Right-size your charger for your actual needs
  • Install once, no costly rework later
EV Chargers We Install & Recommend

Every Install Includes Assessment, Permit & ESA Inspection

7.2 to 9.6 kW / 30-40A · ~25-35 km/hr charge rate

Level 2 Universal

  • Works with any EV brand
  • Lower electrical demand
  • Multiple brand options
  • More affordable entry point

Dynamic Power Sharing · rate varies with home load

Smart Load Managed

  • Auto-adjusts to available capacity
  • Never trips your main breaker
  • Ideal for limited service capacity
  • Best for 2-car households

Not sure which charger is right for you? We'll recommend the best option based on your vehicle, driving habits, electrical capacity, and future plans.

Why Capacity Assessment Saves You Money

The Math Most People Miss

What's already on a typical service

HVAC system30-60A
Electric range40A
Dryer30A
Hot water heater30A
General circuits40-60A

Without assessment: add a 60A charger, exceed capacity, trip the main breaker, then pay for an emergency panel upgrade.

With an engineered assessment

Service size (Leaside example)200A
Historical peak demand82A (41%)
Added: EV + pool + heaters+68A
New peak demand150A (75%) ✓

400A upgrade avoided: $30,000+ saved. Right charger, right size, load management where needed. No surprises.

On 100A service? A Level 2 charger alone needs 40 to 60A, half your entire service. We typically recommend 200A, which also future-proofs for heat pumps and induction, or a load-managed design within your existing capacity.

Straight Answers

EV Charger Questions

The kind we would give before you commit a dollar of capital. Tap a question.

How long does installation take?
Most residential EV charger installations are completed in 2 to 4 hours. If panel work or a subpanel is needed, it may take a full day. We'll confirm the timeline during your assessment.
Do I need to upgrade my panel for an EV charger?
On 200A service: often not. Many 200A services have enough headroom for a charger without upgrades; we analyze your actual consumption to confirm. On 100A service: we typically recommend upgrading to 200A. A Level 2 charger alone needs 40 to 60A, half your entire service. If a service upgrade isn't feasible, we can design a load-managed solution within your existing capacity.
Can I charge any EV with a Tesla Wall Connector?
Yes. Tesla Wall Connectors now work with all J1772 and NACS vehicles via adapter. It's the most versatile option for households that may have different EVs over time.
What's included in your price?
Our quotes include capacity assessment, charger supply, installation labor, ESA permit, and inspection. We'll specify any additional work (panel upgrades, new circuits) separately with transparent pricing.
What if I want to add a 2nd charger or heat pump later?
That's exactly why we provide a full electrification roadmap, not just an EV charger install. During your assessment we discuss everything you're considering: 2nd EV, heat pump, induction range, hot water heater, pool equipment, battery backup. We calculate all potential future loads and design your infrastructure to handle them from day 1, so you won't need expensive rework.
