What is included
Four checks, one report
Every baseline covers the same four parts, scaled to your home or building.
Thermography
Infrared scan of panels, switchgear and high-load circuits under load by a certified thermographer, to find hot connections before they fail.
Condition assessment
Panel age and type, breakers, wiring, labelling and visible defects, recorded with photos.
Capacity review
Your utility interval data and existing loads, checked against what you plan to add: EV, heat pump, battery, cooking or tenant demand.
Engineered report
Findings ranked by risk, what fits without an upgrade, and the recommended path and order of work, prepared by a licensed Professional Engineer.
Two tracks
Home Baseline or Building Baseline
Who it is for
- Adding an EV charger, heat pump, battery or induction cooking
- Planning a renovation or addition
- Told you need a panel or service upgrade
- Older panel, aluminum wiring or breakers that trip
What we look at
- Main panel and sub-panels
- High-load circuits: range, dryer, EV, hot tub, heat pump
- 12 months of Toronto Hydro or utility interval data
- Planned equipment and timing
What the report answers
- Can my existing service handle what I am adding?
- Is a service upgrade needed, or can load management avoid it?
- What is the right order for my upgrades?
- Are there safety items to fix first?

Return on investment
The baseline pays for itself on the first decision
Most electrical spending goes wrong before anyone picks up a tool: an upgrade nobody needed, equipment sized by guesswork, or a failing connection nobody saw.
Avoid an upgrade you do not need
Recent clients avoided $10,000 to $15,000 in unnecessary service upgrades once their real load data was reviewed.
Size equipment right the first time
Batteries, EV chargers and heat pumps sized to your actual demand, not a rule of thumb.
Fix the hot spot before it fails
A loose or overheated connection found early is a planned repair, not an outage or a fire risk.

Questions
Electrical Baseline Assessment FAQ
What does the Electrical Baseline Assessment include?
A thermographic inspection, a condition assessment, a capacity review using your utility interval data, and an engineered report with findings ranked by risk and a recommended path.
How much does it cost?
Price depends on the property and the equipment involved. Send the address and a few details and we reply with a fixed quote within 1 to 2 business days.
Is anything free?
Yes. We offer a free 30-minute site walk to see your equipment and hear what you are planning. Calculations, inspections and reports are part of the paid baseline.
Who performs the work?
Assessments are led by a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager who is also a certified infrared thermographer.
Do I need to open my panel or send photos?
No. If you send photos, exterior and label photos only. Panel covers are removed only by our team during the site visit.
What happens after the report?
You can use it with any contractor. If you want Energable to design and install the work, the report becomes the basis for a detailed proposal.
